German Public Broadcast ZDF produces Martha Grimes first mystery the Richard Jury series
Mainz (ots) On Monday, 15th April 2013 in Corfe, England the shooting began of the German Public Broadcaster ZDF television movie of THE MAN WITH A LOAD OF MISCHIEF.
Gunter Knarr wrote the screenplay based on the bestseller by Martha Grimes. Grimes is a U.S. citizen whose New York Times bests selling English detective novels featuring Inspector Jury are very popular in Germany. It is directed by Edzard Onneken (Grimme Award for Turkish for Beginners).
Inspector Jury (Fritz Karl) and his slightly hypochondriacal Sargent Alfred Wiggins (Arndt Schwering-Sohnrey) travel to the idyllic Long Piddleton which quickly becomes a place of bizarre murders.
The suspects are many, and during his investigation Jury enlists the highly intelligent former noble Melrose Plant (Götz Schubert) which he initially takes for an arrogant snob. In spite of their differences and disagreements, the two become friends. Too bad that they are in love with the same woman, the beautiful Vivian Rivington (Julia Brendler).
The other roles are Bernard Shir, Catherine Bach valley, Julia Stemberger, Peter Lerchbaumer and other star cast members.
This is a coproduction of the ZDF with Crazy Film GmbH, and epo-film production company and the ORF, funded by the Austrian Television Fund. Producers are Dirk Eggers, Philip Weinges, Andreas Richter and Dieter Pochlatko. The editor at ZDF is Pit Rampelt. A broadcast date ZDF is not fixed yet but may be January of 2014.
At this time there are no plans to air the movie in the U.S., but it is possible that DVD’s will be available subtitled in English in 2014.
